Living Up To New Year’s Resolutions

In January I set out to “Master My Craft” — it’s now February and time for me to start concentrating on my health and vitality. You may remember in my Resolve 2007 post that February is the month for “Buffing it Up!”.
January was filled with Ruby on Rails tutorials, BarCampDallas (where I learned some nifty CSS tips and tricks — and picked up some great advice on how to use new and emerging technologies including FLEX), and a concentrated study of User Experience Design and Information Architecture. It amazes me how powerful written goals are — it’s almost like once recorded you accomplish things on auto-pilot.
February marks the beginning of my re-commitment to my own personal health and fitness. This month I commit to attending daily Bikram Yoga Classes (starting today), swim 2-3 times/week, eat healthier (no Fast Food or Junk!), tan, get weekly manicures/pedicures, and just take better care of myself in general. Something which I am sad to say hasn’t happened for quite some time.
Bikram Yoga is an intensely powerful and emotional experience. I know that this month will not be easy. However, I am committed to recapturing my own personal power, and taking massive action toward increased personal health and vitality.
This does not mean that I am abandoning my studies. On the contrary, my monthly projects were meant to build upon one another and carry over from month to month. So don’t be surprised if you hear more from me with regards to Rails, and UX in the near future.

All sounds good, except for the tanning. Just call it “cancering up” instead. Also, makes you look weird, like a gum-snapping sorority chick.

I clicked through to comment for the same reason as Alan. Tanning? Yikes. It might make you feel good now, but your skin will be a mess in later on.

Bikram Yoga IS hardcore! Some friends in LA turned me onto it a few years ago — it’s pretty much the most intense workout I’ve ever done _and_ it’s spiritually refreshing. (or perhaps it just breaks you down so your ego is left on teh floor!)
Keep up the awesome work!
