Today at 2:02 PM MST marks the first day of fall, commonly known as the Autumn Equinox. I love this time of year. Fall is my second favorite season (after spring). Today we usher in hand-knit sweaters with leggings, warm pumpkin spice lattes in front of cozy fires, and shorter days leading into longer nights.
“You come home.Today also marks a change in my own days/nights. My darling friend and caretaker has finally departed for good. When he arrived a few months ago, I was a mere shell of the woman I am today. With tenderness, love, and a few well-timed orgasms – he nursed me back to life. I will be forever grateful for his friendship, his advice, and his hand in mine. In the wake of his departure, I feel radiant, alive, and FREE.
Make some tea.
Sit down in your armchair…and all around there’s silence.
Everyone decides for themselves whether that’s loneliness or freedom.”
Now we begin again.
I leave behind me an awkward summer. A summer filled with unexpected disappointments, betrayal, and loss…but also a summer of redemption, magic, and love. A summer of healing.
As the nights become colder, I find myself turning inward more and more. My eyes already staking their claim on the sweet hibernation of winter. The task at hand, to kill my darlings, to make room for a new future, to love wisely – while still loving hard.
Let’s all fall forward together, gently and without fear. A new season awaits.
READY? Let’s begin.
