“To die will be an awfully big adventure.”J.M. BarrieIf I had my life to do over again – I would say YES to more adventures.
This morning I got a text message…“Do you want to go sledding?” Truthfully I had already made other plans…but when I read that message my entire body said “YES. YES. I WANT TO GO SLEDDING”.
So I threw on my snowsuit and boots and spent the entire afternoon sledding up and down a nearby hill. I went over jumps (whether I meant to or not) sliding onto sidewalks and into haystacks. I laughed watching the children race one another – flying through the air – crashing. There was even a dog chasing sledders up and down the hill.
I made crazy promises to myself at the start of this year. I’ve been working on building better boundaries. Spending more time living in the present moment doing things I love. Reminding myself again and again, how precious each moment is. And how little time I have left.
Sometimes plans can wait. Sometimes we have to let go of our plans – and invite adventure in.
“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming “Wow! What a Ride!”Hunter S. Thompson
