ReinventingErica.com – Day 26 of 90

On Weightloss

I had a terrible week last week.  So many things went wrong.  I was sad and depressed – and completely unable to focus.  And, I had a date.  And I didn’t feel the least bit like going out.  And Sarah saw me struggling with all of this, and she said she wanted to take me shopping for a new outfit.  I resisted at first – but one of the things I’ve been working on lately is accepting gifts from people.  So, I said yes.

I told her my favorite store was Ann Taylor, so later that afternoon we met there in search of my new outfit.  All the manikins in the display window were dressed in chic tailored skirts and tops in various shades of gray & pink (which just so happens to be my signature color).  So I was totally excited to go inside and try on those adorable outfits.

But when we got into the store – I started browsing through the racks – and couldn’t find anything in my size.  Normally at Ann Taylor I wear a size 16 or if I’m lucky as size 14.  But all the sizes seemed to stop at 12.  I was crushed.  But Sarah insisted I at least go and try on a couple skirts and blouses.  So reluctantly, I did.

And guess what.  I fit into a 12 – technically – I fit into a 12 Petite.  And it didn’t just fit…it fit comfortably.  I’m actually thinking maybe I should have tried a 10 while I was there too.

My goal is to fit into a size 8 by SXSW.  Which seems entirely reasonable – given my current rate of progress.  And I have Sarah to thank for that.  She makes sure I eat right and work out everyday.  She offers me encouragement, motivation, and most of all love.  And for that – I’ll never be able to thank her enough.

Yay!

Hey, I have tons of size 8 clothes that no longer fit…when I was diagnosed with Celiac disease and went gluten-free, I dropped 12 pounds in 4 weeks, which means I'm now a 4/6. I have some really nice stuff in size 8, though, including some very elegant and classy dress pants, etc. So when you're there…I'll bring some clothes and you can try them on! :)

In the meantime…don't buy too much stuff! I didn't realize what was happening at first and bought some really awesome shorts in size 8 that don't fit any more. :(
