Smile.  It’s Worth It.

My friend Sarah recently turned me on to this new habit, and I’ve already found it incredibly beneficial.  We all know from watching Chris Brogan’s Overnight Success series that it takes HARD WORK to become wildly successful.  But a lot of times hard work is…well..hard.  And you don’t always want to get up early in the morning – or make the constant sacrifices that you know will get you to the top.  Sometimes you just want to sleep in, or stay in bed all day and read, or take a bubble bath, or go out with friends.  But most of the time – you can’t.

So how do you motivate yourself to get out of bed when you’d rather not?  What you need is a MANTRA.  A little phrase that will remind you of the bigger picture – and why you’re making all these sacrifices in the first place.  Here’s the one I stole from Sarah.

“I’m going to lose sleep.  And it’s worth it.  Now Smile.”

That’s it.  That’s how I get out of bed in the morning at 5:30 AM after only 4 hours of sleep.  That’s how I put on my workout clothes and go jogging.  That’s how I make it through the days that I’d rather be lying in bed.  Just remember, don’t forget to SMILE.  I don’t know why – but that seems to make all the difference.
