Ritual – rit·u·al (noun) any practice or pattern of behavior regularly performed in a set manner.
The purposes of rituals are varied; they include compliance with religious obligations or ideals, satisfaction of spiritual or emotional needs of the practitioners, strengthening of social bonds, demonstration of respect or submission, stating one’s affiliation, obtaining social acceptance or approval for some event — or, sometimes, just for the pleasure of the ritual itself. ~Wikipedia
I have a yearly ritual. Each year I pick a Life Theme Song. I adopted this ritual from the sitcom Ally McBeal, where Ally’s therapist suggests she pick a theme song - “Something she can play in her head to make her feel better in tough situations”.
I never choose my Life Theme Song, it always chooses me. Here is a list of my Life Theme Songs from past years, starting in 2005 (the first year I had an “Official” Life Theme Song).

This year I’ve struggled with finding my song. But that all changed on my drive back from Dallas yesterday. A song that I’ve known and loved forever started playing on my iPod, and I instantly knew this was my song. So here it is – my 2009 Life Theme Song – Tim McGraw – Live Like You Were Dying
