What I’m Thankful For Part I

With Thanksgiving right around the corner - I wanted to start giving thanks for all that I have. In Part I of what I’m thankful for - I’d like to Thank my AMAZING Community. This year you guys have done GREAT things. You have come together to Start A Company, Help Non-Profit Organizations, Teach and Learn, and even start New Companies out of Old. I’m proud of you all - and grateful that you’ve let me be a part of this amazing Houston Community.

Monday Morning Moo

I mentioned in a previous post how I like to start my mornings with what I call a “Big Moo Moment” I’ll admit that some morning I don’t have time for this practice - but since today was Monday and I like to start the week off right - I decided to read a chapter of The Big Moo entitled “What, Exactly, Are You Afraid Of?” Here’s what I learned:

You Can’t Shrink Your Way to Greatness

Being invisible won’t help you to keep your job. Being scared of breaking the rules or stepping outside of the box won’t get you noticed. Promotions don’t go to folks who work hard and toe the line. They go to people who challenge the status quo, reinvent the market, and who step outside of their comfort zones. The same is true of people who are running their own companies. You won’t get rich by playing it safe. Real Risk is what offers Real Rewards.

I Have Blogger's Block
I was chatting with my friend Laura Mayes tonight - explaining how I have Blogger’s Block.  Tomorrow I head to San Francisco - and I’ve already stocked up on awesome reading materials for the plane - including the Complete Works of Jane Austen and Katharine Hepburn’s Autobiography.  Laura’s advice:

The best way to get out of a block is to read good writing.

And to go to Northern California.

Check. And Check.

Link Policy

My personal link policy is as follows - I only link to the blogs of people I actually know in real life (with the exception of the "Other Erica's" section). I think when you add someone to your blogroll there should be real meaning attached. Most of the people I link to are not only acquaintances - but folks I am lucky enough to call my friends.
