OpenCoffeeClub

OpenCoffee Club

Today’s OpenCoffee Club Houston was a roaring success with nearly 60 people in attendance. I saw a lot of new faces - and got to catch up with some old friends. Special thanks to Josh Tabin & Kurt Stoll (StartupHouston), as well as Marc Nathan for making this bi-monthly event possible.

Jelly Hits Houston

Jelly Co-WorkingAfter OpenCoffee Club today - we had the first ever Jelly in Houston Co-working event. And while we did have to change locations once - because the internet at Coffee Groundz was inconsistent - overall Jelly Houston was a lot of fun. In the future I think we need to establish a set of guidelines so that people can get more work done - while still enjoying the collaborative environment that Jelly provides. For starters -I’d like to take Amit’s suggestion and have separate areas for chatting and working.

Social Media Club

One of the things that came out of the first Jelly Co-Working event is plans to establish a chapter of the Social Media Club in Houston. But that’s not all - Dayna Marcum and I are also working on a road map to help establish credentials for Social Media Consultants in partnership with Social Media Club. After seeing video’s like this one - Social Media Douche-bag - I really think it’s time to separate the Real Social Media Experts from the Wannabees and Charlatans. I don’t want to say too much at this point - but I do want to say that we have spoken with Chris Heuer and are hoping to have something concrete before the end of the year.

@Chris - THANKS! Actually I do Guest Interviews for The Business Makers Radio show - and just last night they asked me if I’d like to have my own Segment on the show each week. I’m super excited — I’m even getting my own theme song!

I’m coming to love Audio - and I totally adore the ease of Utterz!

I Have Blogger's Block
I was chatting with my friend Laura Mayes tonight - explaining how I have Blogger’s Block.  Tomorrow I head to San Francisco - and I’ve already stocked up on awesome reading materials for the plane - including the Complete Works of Jane Austen and Katharine Hepburn’s Autobiography.  Laura’s advice:

The best way to get out of a block is to read good writing.

And to go to Northern California.

Check. And Check.

My personal link policy is as follows - I only link to the blogs of people I actually know in real life (with the exception of the "Other Erica's" section). I think when you add someone to your blogroll there should be real meaning attached. Most of the people I link to are not only acquaintances - but folks I am lucky enough to call my friends.
