Day 12: Why I’d Do SmartLipo Again – Mustaches for Kids - Community

Why I’d Do SmartLipo Again

A lot of people have been asking me if I’d ever consider doing Smart Lipo Again – and the answer is a resounding YES! But Smart Lipo isn’t for everyone. In fact – I’d say that the most important trait of a good Smart Lipo Candidate would be having Realistic Expectations. Dr. Bergeron was up front and clear about exactly what I could expect as a result of this procedure. It was not going to be a miracle cure – and seeing a massive change would still require hard work and effort on my part. But the benefits of smartlipo include something that even traditional weight loss programs can’t guarantee. Once you’ve had a SmartLipo Procedure done – you will never again produce more fat cells in that area. In my case I had three separate areas done – including my upper and lower abdomen, and “love handles”. So yes – I’m still having to eat right and work out to get to my dream weight – but it’s my smart lipo procedure has definitely helped me “Jump Start” my progress.

Mustaches for Kids

Have you ever heard of Mustaches for Kids? Did you know we have a chapter right here in Houston? In fact – I’m sponsoring my friend Matthew Wettergreen on his quest to grow the perfect Mustache (all benefiting children’s charities). Here’s more about Mustaches for Kids:

Mustaches for Kids is a volunteer-run organization started in Los Angeles in 1999 to do good and have fun by growing Mustaches for children’s charities. Since its humble beginnings, Mustaches for Kids satellite chapters have spread across the continent, a steady expansion that is not unlike the measured, deliberate growth of a Mustache. Through the years, Mustaches for Kids has enlisted the efforts of hundreds of brave of Growers who, collectively, have raised over $150,000 for charities such as the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Children’s Hospital of New Orleans, and San Francisco’s Legal Services for Children.

Here’s how it works: Each year, during the four-week Growing Season between Thanksgiving and Christmas, Growers sprout sweet, sweet Mustaches. Per Mustaches for Kids bylaws, they shave their faces, except for the Mustache, a minimum of one time per week and solicit donations from friends, family, co-workers, and people in the community. Kind of like getting pledges to run a marathon. Without the exertion, cramping, or dehydration. Call it a facial hair marathon. At the end of the Growing Season, each Mustaches for Kids chapter hosts a Mustache Competition, which is a cross between a beauty pageant, dog show, and police line up. During the Competition, Growers, often in Mustache-enhancing costumes, are put through a test of mind, body, and Mustache and allow their facial hair to be evaluated by an independent panel of judges, and one Mustache is declared to be the “Sweetest.”

Schipul’s Jason McElweenie is heading up the local Houston Chapter and you can find out more about the other Houston contestants by visiting: http://m4khouston.wordpress.com/

Community

I think that Community is one of the biggest motivating factors in my life. In fact – I’d say that without the amazing community we have here in Houston – I wouldn’t be so healthy, successful, and happy. I just wanted to take a minute and say how grateful I am to live in Houston.

I Have Blogger's Block
I was chatting with my friend Laura Mayes tonight - explaining how I have Blogger’s Block.  Tomorrow I head to San Francisco - and I’ve already stocked up on awesome reading materials for the plane - including the Complete Works of Jane Austen and Katharine Hepburn’s Autobiography.  Laura’s advice:

The best way to get out of a block is to read good writing.

And to go to Northern California.

Check. And Check.
