An Illuminated Federal Budget

August 11th, 2007  |  Published in Community

I’m in Austin today at the LBJ Library where a group of amazing and talented people have gathered together to discuss having an Illuminated Federal Budget. This project was originally entitled the Transparent Federal Budget - but was renamed this morning.

The Woman behind this event is the ever so talented Silona Bonewald - who heads up The League of Technical Voters. Folks participating in today’s event include Jimmy Wales (via Video) , Tantek Celik, James Hogan, Senator Bill Bradley (via Video), Sharron Rush and Brad Fitzpatrick. The thoughts and ideas flying around this room are both enlightening and terrifying.

The title of today’s event is: “We Are All Actors“. There is no powerpoint here - instead audience members are acting out short scenes that depict different issues that an Illuminated Federal Budget could address.

Tonight there is a Shakespeare Themed Dinner at The Wild Basin.

If you are interested in helping out with an Illuminated Federal Budget or you’d like to find out more - please visit The League of Technical Voters website and click on the Transparent Federal Budget link. This is an amazing cause - and it effects us all.

I Have Blogger's Block
I was chatting with my friend Laura Mayes tonight - explaining how I have Blogger’s Block.  Tomorrow I head to San Francisco - and I’ve already stocked up on awesome reading materials for the plane - including the Complete Works of Jane Austen and Katharine Hepburn’s Autobiography.  Laura’s advice:

The best way to get out of a block is to read good writing.

And to go to Northern California.

Check. And Check.

Link Policy

My personal link policy is as follows - I only link to the blogs of people I actually know in real life (with the exception of the "Other Erica's" section). I think when you add someone to your blogroll there should be real meaning attached. Most of the people I link to are not only acquaintances - but folks I am lucky enough to call my friends.
