Monday with Mullenweg (and Andy too?)

March 17th, 2007  |  Published in Misc.  |  8 Comments

So — this Monday evening “We” (referring to ALL of Houston) have the distinct pleasure of entertaining the one and only Matt Mullenweg. Who is Matt Mullenweg? REALLY — As if you don’t know ;)

But just in case you are clueless on this one — Matt is the founding developer of WordPress — and CBBQTT for San Francisco Based Automattic. He’s also THE #1 Most Important Matt in the World (according to Google), and the 16th Most Important Person on the Web (according to PC World Magazine). But mostly he’s just one heck of a cool guy.

Also — if we’re lucky — The one and only Andy Skelton (developer of the Best Coffee Vodka in the World!) — will be joining us this Monday as well. <-- This is my sad attempt to get Andy to Houston so that I can hang out with him. Seems like I never get to see as much of him as I would like :(

Additionally, I just learned that Paul Stamatiou is home from Georgia Tech for Spring Break — and will be joining us for this little get together at the Stag’s Head pub. All we’re missing now is a little Gio from Big “D”.

Details, Details, Details

Enough talk — here are the event details: http://upcoming.org/event/165647/

Please, please, please RSVP so that we can get an accurate count ;)

Erica, I shot a message out to Refresh Austin, in case anyone here will be able to attend. Odds are *real* slim that I will be able to make it, but who knows.

Hey Erica, it was great to meet you and everyone else at the impromptu Refresh meeting for Matt.

I put my notes up on my blog at http://www.startuphouston.com/wp-trackback.php?p=24
but since I got there late, was there anything else that he shared that you think would be good info to share with everyone else that missed out?

    Thanks!

    Kurt

MATT!!! I’m a Mattaholic! (Thank goodness THAT isn’t a trademark violation!) What a great and inspiring night, followed by another one on Tuesday. I’m looking forward to what lies ahead!

I Have Blogger's Block
I was chatting with my friend Laura Mayes tonight - explaining how I have Blogger’s Block.  Tomorrow I head to San Francisco - and I’ve already stocked up on awesome reading materials for the plane - including the Complete Works of Jane Austen and Katharine Hepburn’s Autobiography.  Laura’s advice:

The best way to get out of a block is to read good writing.

And to go to Northern California.

Check. And Check.
