Upcoming Events

Wow — so far 2007 has started out GREAT. It looks like in addition to starting a new full time job on Monday, I am also going to be working on a freelance project in February for one of the web’s shining stars. I won’t give away any details just yet — but it’s definitely a project I am looking forward to.

Refresh Houston meets on Tuesday (January 9th). Join us this month for a Round Table Discussion on The Future of Technology with a secret mystery host. For more details visit: Upcoming to RSVP

What else is happening this month? This coming Saturday is the Launch party for Dishola in Austin,TX. I’ll be there — and I hope “you” will be too ;) Dishola is the product of that ever so talented Mr. Lindsey Simon.

January 19th-21st is BarCampDallas at the Microsoft Offices in Las Colinas. We’re camping out on the 4th floor — and it looks like it’s going to be a killer event. Special thanks to Caleb Jenkins for organizing this event. We couldn’t have done it without you partner!

On January 23rd, The Social Media Club is meeting at the Yahoo offices in Dallas. I’m going to try to make it up for this — but may not have the time. If you are in the Dallas area — I highly recommend you check it out. And be sure to say howdy to Giovanni Gallucci for me.

Houston CSS Meetup is January 25th. Kelsey Ruger will be giving a presentation on how to properly write semantic XHTML.

The Road Ahead

In February — I’ll be starting my “mystery” project.

March is SXSWi (the can’t miss it geek fest).

April — Kelsey, Bryan, Chris, A WHOLE Bunch of other folk, and I will be conducting a workshop for college students on a variety of topics including: XHTML, CSS, AJAX, Accessibility, Information Architecture, User Experience, Grid Based Design, Project Management and more. Look for more information on this upcoming workshop series later this month.

I Have Blogger's Block
I was chatting with my friend Laura Mayes tonight - explaining how I have Blogger’s Block.  Tomorrow I head to San Francisco - and I’ve already stocked up on awesome reading materials for the plane - including the Complete Works of Jane Austen and Katharine Hepburn’s Autobiography.  Laura’s advice:

The best way to get out of a block is to read good writing.

And to go to Northern California.

Check. And Check.

Link Policy

My personal link policy is as follows - I only link to the blogs of people I actually know in real life (with the exception of the "Other Erica's" section). I think when you add someone to your blogroll there should be real meaning attached. Most of the people I link to are not only acquaintances - but folks I am lucky enough to call my friends.
