Why Opportunity Doesn’t Strike Twice…

January 6th, 2007  |  Published in Uncategorized  |  1 Comment

There are people who get it — and then there are people who don’t. In life, if you want to make a difference — a real impact — you have to Seize the Day (Carpe Diem and all that Jazz).

If you want to get to know someone — strike up a conversation. If you need someone’s help — ASK. If you want more money, a better working environment, a better love life, or more friends — it’s up to you to get them. In the last few days — I have been feeling annoyed with people who don’t follow through on their commitments — and who expect the rest of the world to carry them.

When an opportunity presents itself — you must take immediate action. If you don’t — then you have no one to blame but yourself.

And — the great thing about seizing an opportunity — is that — by the mere fact of taking action, you are opening yourself up to countless future opportunities.

I Have Blogger's Block
I was chatting with my friend Laura Mayes tonight - explaining how I have Blogger’s Block.  Tomorrow I head to San Francisco - and I’ve already stocked up on awesome reading materials for the plane - including the Complete Works of Jane Austen and Katharine Hepburn’s Autobiography.  Laura’s advice:

The best way to get out of a block is to read good writing.

And to go to Northern California.

Check. And Check.

Link Policy

My personal link policy is as follows - I only link to the blogs of people I actually know in real life (with the exception of the "Other Erica's" section). I think when you add someone to your blogroll there should be real meaning attached. Most of the people I link to are not only acquaintances - but folks I am lucky enough to call my friends.
