BarCamp Comes to Myanmar (Burma)

December 14th, 2006  |  Published in Misc.  |  2 Comments

Recently Robert Nagle and I had the pleasure of meeting with Ye Aung on behalf of the State Department.  Mr. Aung is from Myanmar (formerly Burma), and this was his first trip to the United States.  A leader in the Myanmar Tech Community, Mr. Aung also runs a series of internet training programs.  It was a wonderful visit, and a great pleasure to meet with him…and to learn more about his country.  Today I received this e-mail from him:

“Glad to receive your letter. I’m fine and propagating BarCamp Idea in Myanmar IT sectors. From Dec 23 to 25, there will be an IT festival in Yangon and I hope I’ll get a chance to contribute in it. The topic will be BarCamp and you and Robert. Will let you know more.”

I am excited and thrilled to see that BarCamp has made it’s way to Myanmar — and I wish Ye and his community great success in all their technological endeavors.

I Have Blogger's Block
I was chatting with my friend Laura Mayes tonight - explaining how I have Blogger’s Block.  Tomorrow I head to San Francisco - and I’ve already stocked up on awesome reading materials for the plane - including the Complete Works of Jane Austen and Katharine Hepburn’s Autobiography.  Laura’s advice:

The best way to get out of a block is to read good writing.

And to go to Northern California.

Check. And Check.
