This week has been a whirlwind…and I don’t think my head will ever stop spinning. It’s exciting to come to a point in your life where you’re on the verge of doing something great. Something that matters. Something that could change the way people do business for years to come.
I’ve been thinking a great deal about leadership lately…and about the qualities that separate a good leader from a great leader. I think great leaders do two things better than average or good leaders.
First, they have perfected the art of decision making. To decide means to cut off from all choices. I think this is an area of my personal life where I fail miserably. I’m great at making decisions about other peoples lives or for other companies or about projects…but when it comes to my own personal life I waste time oscilating from one opportunity to another. I spend too much time in analysis, instead of going with what my gut instinct has told me. I want to be one of those people who sees their path, who siezes the moment, and who boldly goes where no man has gone before.
Which brings me to the second quality I think is important to all Great Leaders. They are willing to Risk It All for something that they believe in. They are willing to step outside of their comfort zones, and to walk an unfamiliar path to reach their goals. Always keeping their ultimate Vision in sight.
This whole week, I have been amazed by how much faith people have in me. And, I guarantee I won’t let them down…even if it means jumping without a safety net.
