I Rediscover Backpack

I LOVE 37signals. I love their software. I love their philosophy. I love their books.
I use their products everyday to simplify and organize my life.
Primarily, I use BaseCamp for client projects, and to collaborate on side projects. In the past, I’ve used it to plan BarCamps, communicate with clients on their design projects (Margarita Chihuahua, College Tours of America, etc), and even to plan the launch of our upcoming podcast. Kelsey and I use BaseCamp frequently to work on projects together…and we have found it invaluable. Included in BaseCamp are other popular 37signals tools such as CampFire (their chat program), and Writeboards.
Additionally, I use their sharable todo lists Ta-Da Lists for just about everything.
But…for many moons (thought it was time for a bad cliché), I have overlooked BackPack. BackPack is geared more toward collecting and organizing personal information and projects. Recently I came across a new Firefox extension that allows me to easily view my BackPack pages and calendars…so…I decided to give BackPack another shot. Boy am I glad that I did. What I found out is that BaseCamp is overkill for many of the projects that I currently use it for. BaseCamp is great for projects that require a great deal of collaboration. But since I work alone on most projects…most of it’s core features remain untouched.
