BarCampTexas - The Aftermath

August 27th, 2006  |  Published in Misc.  |  1 Comment

One of my goals when I started Reinventing Erica, was to make BarCampTexas an event to remember. I think I can safely say that it MOST DEFINITELY WAS!!! Of course, as with all things, there’s always room for improvement.

I’ve spent most of today listening to the recorded audio from yesterday’s presentations. The Catch-22 of being a host at an event like BarCamp, is that you miss a lot of the better discussions and presentations. I caught a bit of Michael Verdi’s presentation on Saturday — but didn’t realize how truly remarkable it was until I listened to it again today ;) Of course, I made sure my butt was planted to a chair front and center when WordPress Founding Developer Matt Mullenweg did his presentation entitled WordPress on Rails. I’ll have all the presentations posted somewhere on the web within the next week, so stay tuned for BarCampTexas Yummy Podcast Goodness ;)

So, what about Reinventing Erica? Okay…here’s the deal. I have decided to go forward marking tomorrow as Day 8, and take things from there. Slow and Steady wins the race…and all that good stuff.

You GO GRRRL! I was very impressed with BarCamp this weekend (Nerdfest as my 7 yr old calls it). You did an awesome job! I was very impressed with what you all pulled together on what was basically no budget…with major wrenches thrown in at the last second as well!

Looking forward to seeing the RefreshHouston event next month. Later! :-) You TOTALLY ROCK!

I Have Blogger's Block
I was chatting with my friend Laura Mayes tonight - explaining how I have Blogger’s Block.  Tomorrow I head to San Francisco - and I’ve already stocked up on awesome reading materials for the plane - including the Complete Works of Jane Austen and Katharine Hepburn’s Autobiography.  Laura’s advice:

The best way to get out of a block is to read good writing.

And to go to Northern California.

Check. And Check.

My personal link policy is as follows - I only link to the blogs of people I actually know in real life (with the exception of the "Other Erica's" section). I think when you add someone to your blogroll there should be real meaning attached. Most of the people I link to are not only acquaintances - but folks I am lucky enough to call my friends.
